Get this ultra-low-mintage Roman Zodiac Privy Mark 1 Troy Ounce Silver Maple Leaf that celebrates Virgo the Virgin. The total mintage was just 5,000, so these are very scarce in the marketplace today-and ours are encapsulated in official Royal Canadian Mint burgundy boxes with individually numbered certificates of authenticity, too! Virgo is the astrological sign of the scales, one of the twelve signs of the classical or Roman zodiac. This sign originated with the constellation Virgo and is the sixth sign of the zodiac. The mintage limit of each of the Roman Zodiac Privy Mark Silver Maple Leafs was only 5,000-the second lowest ever for any SML!

Virgo is traditionally seen as the appellation of the goddess of justice, Astraea, the virgin daughter of Zeus and Themis. She is known for holding the scales of justice, from the constellation Libra which is nearby. Other mythology ties Virgo to Persephone, daughter of Demeter, the goddess of agriculture and known for her innocence and purity of heart. She later became the Queen of the Underworld, and was taken by Hades. There are still other myths that tie Virgo to virtually every major goddess from mythology.

The constellation Virgo is most frequently seen as the arms and torso of Astraea, holding a sheaf of wheat. As a sign of the zodiac, Virgo is referred to as a feminine or introverted, negative sign. Its element is earth and it is one of the four mutable signs. Traditionally, in astrology, Libra is ruled by the planet Mercury and its opposite sign is Pisces. Libra's period, when it is occupied by the Sun, runs from August 23 to September 23, and the 6th House is the house Virgo rules.

In astrology the astrological signs of the twelve houses equal segments or divisions of the zodiac. According to astrological beliefs, celestial phenomena reflect or govern human activity on the principle of "as above, so below", so that the twelve signs at the same time are held to represent twelve basic personality types or characteristic modes of expression. Those born under the sign of Virgo are said to be analytical, shrewd, witty, responsible, intelligent, meticulous and insightful. They can also be seen as perfectionistic, conventional, reserved, and critical.
